Bring back the “theater experience” to home cinema with a neglected element from classic movie theaters!

Background:

The current “casual” style of watching movies at home is very convenient, but lacks much of the impressive and ostentatious style of films in the golden age of cinema.

Typically, the “film watching” experience is as follows: 1) turn on TV (Figure 1), 2) press “play” on a remote.

Fig. 1: A huge TV that’s effectively a cinema-for-one-person can be had for the same price as approximately 100 fast-food hamburgers.

Proposal:

Let’s bring back classic style to the home-viewing experience by adding fancy red velvet curtains to the television itself (Figure 2)!

Fig. 2: By adding a curtain rod above the TV and some fancy curtains, we’ve transformed a boring regular TV into a vintage “golden age” cinema experience.

This curtain could be motorized, and would open / closed based on the television’s power state. Now, even the most casual and unfocused TV browsing will feel classy!

PROS: Should class up the movie-watching experience at home!

CONS: Motorized curtains offer a new and annoying additional possible point of technical failure.
